{"id":5003,"date":"2012-03-25T21:50:53","date_gmt":"2012-03-26T03:50:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.717madisonplace.com\/?p=5003"},"modified":"2012-03-25T21:50:53","modified_gmt":"2012-03-26T03:50:53","slug":"vote-on-richard-taranto-held-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.717madisonplace.com\/?p=5003","title":{"rendered":"Vote on Richard Taranto Held Over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The nomination of Richard Taranto to the Federal Circuit as well as the nominations of other judges\u00a0were on the schedule of the Senate Judiciary Committee for March 22nd, 2012; but,\u00a0discussion of those nominations\u00a0had to be held over for a later date when not enough senators showed up for the meeting.\u00a0 Senator Leahy characterized the lack of attendance by Republican senators as a boycott.\u00a0 Ranking member Grassley was in attendance and stated that there was no reason that he knew of for a boycott and objected to characterizing the lack of attendance as a boycott.<\/p>\n<p>There is some sense that judicial nominations are\u00a0growing as\u00a0a political issue in this election year.\u00a0 So, it will be interesting to see how Mr. Taranto&#8217;s nomination\u00a0is affected\u00a0in the upcoming months.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"paragraphHeader\">Results of Executive Business Meeting &#8211; March 22, 2012<\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div>The Senate Judiciary Committee held an executive business meeting to consider pending nominations and legislation on March 22, 2012.<\/div>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>Agenda<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong>I.
